Editor's Note

Dear Reader,

Welcome to the inaugural issue of Outcast Magazine.

Outcast was started with the help of literary enthusiasts who wanted to bring forward LGBTQ+ writers into the limelight. With the help of Daastan, a wonderful publishing platform, we took an idea and turned it into a reality. I have the utmost pleasure of bringing to you Volume 1: Love.

Here you will find works from authors all over the world, which is a considerable feat for a publication that has only just learnt to take its first steps. And for that of course, we have to thank our amazing contributors who gave us works that we could share. This issue contains stories about trans people dealing with life, gay people coming out, queer people just living their lives as who they are and so much more. We bring to you poetry that will make you step back and reread and artwork that will have you trying to decipher it for hours. We had hoped that this issue would be a melting pot of queer literature and we are not disappointed. You'll want to settle into this issue, friends. Trust me.

We have other exciting opportunities in the works so stay tuned so you don’t miss out. For now, enjoy the stories, the poetry and the artwork. Oh, and if you’re looking to get published do check out this.

I’m going to end this on a quote by Martin Luther King, Jr.

"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that."

Love,

Fatema
