Dear Reader,

Each time we call for submissions we are presented with amazing works from writers all around the world and our team takes great pleasure in reading each submission that is created with so much love and creativity.

I have the pleasure of welcoming you to the third issue of Outcast – Once Upon a Time. This issue is full of fantastic, witty stories and beautiful poems that are sure to awe you in the same way that they have our team.

When we came up with this theme, we were looking for something away from the norm, pieces that pushed writers to dig deep into their imagination and write about queer lives in the ordinary and the extraordinary. You will come across pieces that are dark and wonderful, stories that are set in new worlds, works that will make you laugh and works that will make you smile.

Enjoy your journey reading through Once Upon a Time, we know we have. And once you’re done with that you will want to stay tuned to what else we have coming up because we have many exciting things in the pipeline.

I’m going to end this on an excerpt from a poem by Mary Oliver:

“As long as you’re dancing, you can
break the rules.
Sometimes breaking the rules is just
extending the rules.

Sometimes there are no rules.”
